Cranes for potentially explosive atmospheres now fully operational. Adamec Crane Systems has delivered two new cranes to the underground natural gas storage facility of Gas Storage CZ.
The ACS-20t/5t/13.5m bridge crane operates in the compressor room, where gas is pumped into underground storage tanks. The main hoist with a lifting capacity of 20t is equipped with an auxiliary 5t hoist. Both are used for compressor maintenance in the hall. The crane is mounted on the existing steel structure and must meet the criteria for Zone 2 explosion-proof environments. The crane is therefore powered by a cable trolley.
The second ACS-4t/8.1m bridge crane is located in the separation hall. Here it is used for the maintenance of pipes and filters that clean the gas. Like the large double-girder crane in the compressor room, this single-girder crane is powered by a cable hoist. Although the crane runway is relatively long – 72 m – we managed to place the cable trolley in a fixed space so that it does not restrict the crane's necessary travel to the hall's end walls.
Since Adamec Crane System designs cranes precisely according to the client's wishes, we placed walkways and footbridges on both cranes so that they could be used not only for crane inspection and maintenance, but also for the maintenance of lighting and sensors located across the halls.
